Bats

At work, I sometimes have to give tours of the cave to school groups, and when I do, the kids have to watch a video on bats. I have watched it several times now, and learned so many interesting things!
The smallest mammal in the world weighs less than a penny, and it's this little guy right here. a Bumblebee Bat:

These are pretty much only found in Thailand.
The bats we have here in Tennessee are called Eastern Pipistrelle bats, and they grow to be about the size of a man's thumb! They hibernate in the cave all winter, and if people disturb them they can die, because they literally do not have enough energy to wake up twice once they're in hibernation.

When they're storing up for winter, these bats can eat over 600 mosquitos per hour.
Bats are some of the world's most naturally gentle creatures, and some can actually be trained!
